The Moment in Between Then and Now

Did you know there are living stars in caves
next to the glow worm grotto? There is something
there that acts deceptively like a human being.
We are so smart but we can’t answer why the
dodo became extinct

I’d like to see worms with a thousand eyes
and worms with hypodermic needs and crabs
that wear clothes and watch weavers
where the curse of wearing is forever upon them.

Thing-thung-thung- listen
there is a fourth realm of life
beyond the frog that lives in clouds
and snails that become flowers-
it’s close to primeval chaos
among candles in bushes
it’s here.

This is day four’s poem. The prompt was to write a poem inspired by The Strangest Things in the World by Thomas Henry. It is fun reading, so maybe check it out.

What I did was write a list of phrases down and then wrote poem from them, trying my best to keep the phrases intact. For instance, ” a worm with a thousand eyes” is one of his phrases.

Read more about the prompt and more poems here.
